Blast in southwestern Pakistan kills one, injures dozens
The blast took place in Panjgur district, reportedly in Chatkan Bazaar, and was “apparently an IED blast targeting civilians,” a district police official told Anadolu. Police and security forces quickly cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to secure the site and gather evidence.
On the same day, another explosion occurred in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where an IED targeting a cement factory vehicle in Lakki Marwat district killed one person and injured nine, local authorities said, as reported by Geo News. No militant group has claimed responsibility for either incident.
The attacks came a day after four police personnel were killed in separate militant assaults in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On Sunday, three officers were killed in a suspected militant attack in Lakki Marwat district. Following that incident, police carried out a search-and-strike operation, reportedly killing one militant and injuring an officer, while operations in the area are ongoing.
Pakistan has experienced a surge in terrorist attacks in recent years, particularly in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, highlighting persistent security challenges.
