Sixteen people get harmed from explosion in Pakistan

(MENAFN) At least one person was killed and 16 others were injured on Monday when an explosion struck Panjgur district in southwestern Balochistan province. Officials described the blast as “apparently an IED blast targeting civilians” in Chatkan Bazaar, referring to an improvised explosive device. Police and security forces quickly cordoned off the area and launched operations to secure the site and gather evidence.

On the same day, a separate explosion in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province killed one person and injured nine more after an IED detonated near a cement factory vehicle in Lakki Marwat district. No militant group has claimed responsibility for either attack.

The incidents followed a string of violent attacks targeting law enforcement. A day earlier, four police officers were killed in two separate incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In one of these, three police personnel died in a suspected militant attack in Lakki Marwat district. Following that attack, security forces conducted a search-and-strike operation, resulting in the death of one militant and injuries to a police officer, with operations continuing in the area.

Both Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have experienced a rise in terrorist incidents in recent years, with security forces frequently conducting operations to counter militant activity.
